Exciting news for all those involved in the global Halal industry! The Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) is back, and it’s bigger and better than ever. From September 17 to 20, 2024, the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur will be the epicentre of Halal innovation, featuring an array of events and initiatives. One of the standout elements of this year’s showcase is the highly anticipated Knowledge Hub, scheduled for September 19.

The Knowledge Hub, organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), is a pivotal component of MIHAS 2024. This initiative aims to provide Malaysian exporters with an invaluable platform to deepen their industry insights and exchange ideas on the global Halal market. As MATRADE’s Chairman, YB Dato’ Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, puts it,

“The Knowledge Hub is designed to enrich participants’ understanding of the evolving global Halal market. It’s an essential forum for exploring new opportunities and navigating industry challenges.”

This year’s Knowledge Hub will revolve around the theme “Globalising Halal Innovations,” aligning perfectly with MIHAS 2024’s focus. Attendees can look forward to engaging with a diverse group of industry experts, policymakers, and business leaders. The programme will feature four interactive “Meet the Experts” panel sessions. These sessions will provide a unique chance to connect with market specialists and premium buyers from key regions, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Kazakhstan, the USA, Türkiye, Ireland, New Zealand, and Indonesia. Participants will gain critical market intelligence and insights that are vital for thriving in the global Halal market.

The global market for goods and services is set to hit a staggering US$5 trillion (RM23.54 trillion) by 2030, highlighting the vast potential for Malaysian companies to integrate into global Halal supply chains. “Our goal during MIHAS is to equip Malaysian businesses with the knowledge and tools needed to capitalise on these growing opportunities,” says YB Dato’ Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.

MATRADE’s Chief Executive Officer, YBhg. Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, emphasises the interactive nature of the Knowledge Hub sessions.

“These discussions will be rich with insights and practical strategies to help Malaysian companies maintain their competitive edge. It’s an opportunity not to be missed.”

Reflecting on the success of MIHAS 2023, which saw over 1,040 exhibitors from 44 countries and nearly 40,000 trade visitors generating RM24.77 billion in sales, MIHAS 2024 is set to raise the bar even higher. With 2,000 booths and an anticipated attendance of 40,000 visitors from 45 countries, MIHAS 2024 promises to reinforce its status as a major platform in the global Halal industry.
