The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and the Abuja Trade Centre (ATC), organisers of the Halal Expo Nigeria 2022, have stated that the event, which will take place from September 14 to 16, 2022, will bring in USD150 billion in investment and improve exports to the Middle East.

The investment, which would target Nigeria’s cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and tourism sectors, would also serve as a launch pad to attract new businesses for Nigeria and Africa as a whole, according to ACCI President Dr. Al-Mujtaba Abubakar, who revealed this at a virtual press conference to announce the event. He said that the Halal market is worth about USD4 trillion globally and that Nigeria now does roughly USD50 billion in Halal industry.

“We’ve already established contact with a number of organisations in Taiwan, Malaysia, Jordan, Morocco, and Algeria. We’re going to have this expo every year from now on, and it’ll be promoted as part of our activities,” he added.

Jude Chime, ATC’s Executive Director, also spoke, saying that Nigerian firms trade USD50 billion in the beverage and food industries, urging Nigerian businesses to make use of the platform’s prospects.

Nigeria has over 100 million Muslim population which makes it an ideal marketplace and a place worth trillions of dollars. The Halal industry now spans across food processing, food service, cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceuticals & logistics industries and expanding further into lifestyle offerings including Halal travel & hospitality services.

As the Halal movement gains traction, the global industry sets its sights on Nigeria’s growing demand for Shariah-compliant goods. Home to one of the world’s largest Muslim populations next to Indonesia, India, Nigeria does have one of the world’s most viable Halal markets.

In an effort to widen perspectives about the Halal industry, the event will focus on showcasing diverse sectors such as Consumer Electronics, ICT Products, House Hold Products, Electrical Appliances, Fashion and Accessories, Digital and IT consumer products, Interior and Home Decor, Light, lamp and Electrical Appliances, Fashion, Clothes and Textile, FMCG, Jewellery, bags and purse, Leather Products, vertical plantation, Diary products, Home furniture and utilities, baby and kids products, craft items, foods, health and fitness, personal care, body spa fragrance, travel and tourism, handicraft, eco-friendly products, technology innovation, education, tourism, media, pharmaceutical products and cosmetics.
