SHAH ALAM: Bumiputera-owned company Zaiyadal Sdn Bhd, through its newly-acquired subsidiary Serunai Commerce Sdn Bhd, is set to revolutionise the Halal Malaysia certification process with its innovative system, the Certification Bodies Master System.

Zaiyadal group executive director Datuk Lukman Ibrahim announced the company’s proposal to the government, particularly Jakim, for the adoption of its system to enhance the digital platform for halal certification.

Lukman said the company has engaged in meetings with Jakim and other agencies, submitting a proposal for the system’s adoption, and is eagerly awaiting its decision.

“We have meetings with Jakim and also other agencies. We are more than happy to discuss and even to go into detail in terms of what our solution could be because this is a very holistic solution,” he told Business Times in an interview.

He emphasised the readiness of the company to assist Jakim in receiving halal applications, managing, tracking and securely storing data in a high-end cloud system.

Highlighting the credibility of its system, Lukman mentioned that it is recognised by the Islamic Development Bank, showcasing its capability to streamline the certification process efficiently.

Jakim’s existing system has been there for the last 20 years. So that system requires an upgrade. That’s why they need to have a new system because a lot of technologies have changed,

Poised To Support Indonesia’s Mandate for Halal Products

Recently, Serunai Commerce took part in the partnership with the Islamic Development Bank and East Java provincial government to build the province’s halal industry.

The partnership will help East Java’s small enterprises to produce better-quality halal goods. Serunai Commerce will provide access to platforms that can link small businesses to the halal supply chain.

The partnership is also expected to open up market access for the province’s halal goods to enter the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) markets.

Commenting on its plan for the Indonesia market, Lukman said it is set to offer its comprehensive Halal certification system to the government of Indonesia to support the implementation of its new law for Halal products.

He noted that in 2019, Indonesia’s Halal Law passed a new law which mandates that all products (food and beverage products, including processed food and beverage products) produced or imported to Indonesia must be Halal certified.

“The implementation has started this year. So you see, that’s why in Indonesia it’s a big drive now about making Halal certification,” he explained.

The Certification Bodies Master System aims to address these needs, providing a seamless and efficient solution for millions of companies in Indonesia seeking Halal certification.

“Indonesia is very huge. We are talking about millions of companies to be certified. So that’s why they require big system solutions and we want to grab these opportunities.

“Our system will undergo modifications to meet Indonesia’s requirements, ensuring it aligns with the Indonesian government’s vision of making all products produced for Indonesia or export Halal certified,” he added.

Zaiyadal has acquired a 35 per cent interest in Serunai Commerce, a move which will make it the largest shareholder in the company.

Zaiyadal had on March 8 entered into a share subscription agreement with Serunai for the acquisition.
